All of the Marvel Announcements at D23!

Hey Everyone! This weekend Disney really flexed their muscles showing all the upcoming plans from theme parks, to new cruises, to upcoming movies, and Disney+ content! I have compiled a list of the Marvel movies hitting the big screen, plus shows coming to Disney, Disney Jr., Hulu, and Disney+ after it launches on November 12th!

Disney Legends

First off, let’s take a moment to check out some of our favorite heroes that were honored as Disney Legends!

Robert Downey Jr, Ming-na Wan, and Jon Favreau were all added and are now officially Disney Legends!

MARVEL TV

These are TV shows that exist outside of Disney Plus that were announced or information was dropped

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Season 7

It was announced before the start of SDCC that Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD would be ending after its 7th season. While it is officially the longest running Marvel TV Series it is still sad to see it go. A short trailer for the upcoming season was released and the season is set to air in Summer 2020.

Without spoiling too much of Season 6, the team ended up in 1931 and from this trailer, it looks like they will be facing off, literally, with Hydra!

Marvel Rising: Battle of the Bands

During the Marvel Animation panel at D23 Expo, True Believers had the exclusive premiere of the brand-new animated special ‘Marvel Rising: Battle of the Bands’.

‘Marvel Rising: Battle of the Bands’ stars Dove Cameron as Ghost-Spider/Gwen Stacy in an animated special, which will be live on Marvel HQ YouTube channel on Wednesday, August 28 at 4pm PT.

Spidey and his Amazing Friends

This will be a pre-school-based show that will be airing on Disney Jr. Obviously, there isn’t a trailer or anything, but this will be about Spider-man learning how to work with his other gifted friends after usually working solo. If you have a little one, look for this to air in 2021.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur

The animated series Moon Girl and Devi Dinosaur was announced and will be based on the popular 2016 comics series. This will be made in conjunction with Laurence Fishburne’s Cinema Gypsy Productions, is coming to the Disney Channel in 2020.

Marvel’s Adventure into Fear on Hulu

Hulu announced in August that they will be introducing a series called “Adventure into fear” with the starting shows consisting of Ghost Rider and Helstrom!

Ghost Rider

It was announced that Hulu is developing a Ghost Rider series, featuring the Robbie Reyes version of the character. This has been discussed after first appearing in the Ghost Rider pod of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4. Gabriel Luna will reprise his role for the series with Ingrid Escajeda hired to serve as showrunner in addition to executive producing the series with Paul Zbyszewski and Jeph Loeb.

The series is not a spin-off of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. but will focus on the same character with a new story of its own.

Helstrom

It was announced that Hulu had ordered to series a show about Daimon Helstrom / Hellstorm and Ana Helstrom / Satana, children of a powerful serial killer who hunt down criminals.  Paul Zbyszewski will serve as showrunner, as well as executive produce the series with Jeph Loeb.

Disney+

So many good things are being announced for Disney+ and the Marvel lineup is no exception. There were several shows announced at SDCC 2019, but D23 took it a step further and announced three new shows. They also gave us tons of clips, images and information for the already announced shows.

Marvel’s Hero Project

This is an un-scripted series that will air with the launch of Disney+. The 20-episode series shares the positive changes several young heroes are making in their own communities across the country. These kids have dedicated their lives to selfless acts of bravery and kindness.  Marvel celebrates them as the true Superheroes they are by welcoming them into Marvel’s Hero Project.

The Falcon and Winter Soldier

The first Marvel Disney+ release will have Falcon donning the Captain America Shield with Winter Soldier. Along with Falcon and Winter Soldier, we will have Sharon Carter, played by Emily VanCamp and John Walker, played by Wyatt Russell. This will be Jon Walkers first on screen appearance. With this casting, I think we are going to see some disagreements about who really will be wearing the shield after Steve Rogers. Baron Zemo, played by Daniel Bruhl, was also announced to be returning at SDCC 2019.

The Falcon and Winter Soldier will be released on Disney + in late 2019.

Loki

The God of Mischief is back again! This series takes place after getting his hands on the tesseract in Avengers: End Game and creating a new timeline. This is not the Loki we know; he did not have the partial redemption arc that Loki had in Thor: Dark World or in Thor: Ragnorak, He also did not sacrifice the Space Stone to save Thor either. Currently, no cast has been announced for this series.

Loki will be released on Disney+ early 2020

WandaVision

Reprising their roles from Avengers, we have Wanda Maximoff and Vision, played by Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany. It was announced that this would be taking place after the events of End Game, but that makes Vision appearing intriguing since he very much died in Infinity War. However, They have teased a dual reality which I think is very interesting. To add another layer, Monica Rambeau as an adult is also added to the cast. In the comics she does take on the title of Captain Marvel but is also Photon at one point as well.

Also, the events of this series will set up the next Dr. Strange movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, that will also co-star Elisabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff.

WandaVision will be released on Disney+ early 2020

Marvel’s What If…?

Marvel Studio first animated series and probably still one of the most interesting announcements. This show will look at “What if” scenarios in the MCU. We know that one episode will consist of Peggy Carter taking the Super Soldier Serum instead of Steve Rogers. There will be 23 episodes, on for each MCU movie. There is a LONG list of actors returning to the MCU to give their voice to this series:

                Paul Rudd as Ant-Man

                Michael Douglas as Hank Pym

                Chadwick Baseman as Black Panther

                Michael B. Jordon as Killmonger

                Sebastian Stan as Winter Soldier

                Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter

                Toby James as Arnim Zola

Neal McDinough as Dum Dum Dugan

                Karen Gillan as Nebula

                Sean Gunn as Kraglin

                Michael Rooker as Yondu

                Djimon Housou as Korath

                Chris Hemsworth as Thor

                Tom Hiddleston as Loki

                Natalie Portman as Jane Foster

                Taika Waititi as Korg

                Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster

                Josh Brolin as Thanos

                Mark Ruffalo as Hulk/Bruce Banner

Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury

                Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye

                Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark

Jeffery Wright will serve as The Watcher, aka the narrator. While this was the list released at SDCC, I think we can expect to see a much larger number of returning actors.

Marvel’s What if…? Will air on Disney+ in Mid-2021.

Hawkeye

Not much is yet known about the Hawkeye series other than it will focus on Clint Barton training Kate Bishop to take over the role as Hawkeye. Obviously, Jeremy Renner will be returning for the role but not work on any other casting. I imagine that more will come in the next few months.

Hawkeye is will air on Disney+ in Late 2021.

Ms. Marvel

D23 brought with it three new show announcements for Marvel on Disney+. This included Ms. Marvel where we will follow Kamala Khan. This was a widely popular comic series. There have been no announcements for casting or anything else. However, Brie Larson has expressed wanting to see Ms. Marvel in the sequel to Captain Marvel! Bisha K. Ali hired to write and serve as showrunner.

Moon Knight

Moon Knight was announced as in development, but no other information was provided.

She-Hulk

She-Hulk was announced as in development, but no other information was provided.

MCU Movies

Black Widow

A new poster was released for the upcoming Black Widow Movie which is set to release on May 1, 2020. There was a small trailer sneak peek, but it is almost impossible to find on the internet in good quality, so I didn’t include it. I have already written about all the characters and such in another post, so check that out here: http://bit.ly/2PhAclT

Eternals

I have already written and in-depth breakdown of the casting for the Eternals from SDCC 2019. You Can read that here: http://bit.ly/2LerHCX

However, there were two new castings announced with Kit Harrington as Dan Whitman and Gemma Chan as Sersei! There was also this epic picture of the cast in full costume.

Black Panther 2

Rounding out all the major news is the official announcement of the sequel to Black Panther. I don’t think any of us doubted this was going to happen with the huge success that was Black Panther. Black Panther 2 will hit theaters on May 6th, 2022.

Sony/Disney News

Tom Holland was on hand for the announcement that Spiderman is leaving the MCU offically and that we can explect a drastically different movie in Spiderman 3. However, I am still holding out the hope that they work something out. i think that this was somehow a Disney play, I guess we will see!
